Now that the kids are off at college squandering my fortune, we’re trying to simplify, downsize and de-clutter.
But let’s call it what it really is: Getting rid of tons of useless shit! However, when it comes to unloading all this crap, some decisions are harder than others!
Here’s a recent snippet from one of our half-hearted and harrowing basement purges:
Her: When’s the last time you wore these leather pants?
Me: Not sure… maybe 1984?
Her: Why do you still have them?
Me: (Thinking quickly) I might want to dress up as “The Fonz” this Halloween.
Her: (Not buying it) Do they fit?
Me: Not yet. I think they’re a 28 waist.
Her: (Silence)
Me: (Remembering my current waist size) I guess you can put them in the Goodwill pile…
The truth is we don’t need more stuff.
I preach the same message when it comes to video equipment…
You don’t need more “stuff” to do video!
You don’t need more lights; you don’t need the very latest iPhone; You just need to hunker down and do it! More stuff is just going to weigh you down.
Use the stuff (or camera) you’ve already got. You can “rightsize” your video efforts just by starting where you’re at…
The awesome peeps in our Video Green Room community hear me preach this all the time. Inside the Green Room, we give you tools, tactics, tips and shortcuts for doing video consistently – and simply!

Hope to see you inside!

P.S. Please don’t tell my wife that I snuck the leather pants out of the Goodwill pile! Just in case I might fit into them again one day if we get the band back together!
