Last week, with all the usual rumors, hype and hoopla, Apple unveiled the new iPhone 7 and naturally, the Internet lost its mind…
What? No headphone jack? Two cameras? Insane! Wireless earbuds? I’ll lose those in like 5 minutes!
What’s it all mean to you?
Yes, the larger version of the iPhone 7 has two cameras. One for wide angle; one for telephoto.
Does this mean you have to run out or wait in line to get the latest iPhone? Will you have a violent case of FOMO if you don’t?
And what about doing video with the new iPhone? Are all previous versions suddenly obsolete?
The answer: Of course not. And my honest take on the new phone? Who cares!
Everyone is asking if the new phone will improve video, and perhaps it will a little… But we’re really asking the wrong questions!
Will a new phone make you a better videographer? No. Will it make you do more video? Probably not.
Once again, we’re getting too hung up on tech, and not focusing enough on content.
The truth about the new iPhone when it comes to video marketing is this: It. Doesn’t. Matter.
99% of your audience will not know (or care) if you video was shot on an iPhone 7 or any phone.
Bottom line: Keep it simple. Use the video camera (or smart phone) that you’ve got, and just start where you’re at!
